Description
Distillery, Tasting Room, Art…. Gift shop is open at noon Tuesday through Saturday. The bar opens at 5 pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 2 pm on Saturday. By Alaska State Law, alcohol in a tasting room cannot be served after 8 pm.
One of the first distilleries in Alaska and the first (legal) distillery in Fairbanks, Ursa Major is dedicated to the fine craft of small-batch spirits. Rob Borland, founder and distiller, began distilling spirits in 2012 and released Ursa’s first vodka in 2013, with gin and rum following shortly. Current offerings also include Alaska’s only AKavit and canned cocktails, such as the Ursa Major Bloody Mary. As a small, family-run business, Ursa Major Distilling is proud to be a part of the Interior Alaskan community.

The Ursa Major Distilling retail outlet and tasting room opened in the Greater Ester Industrial Area at 2922 Parks Highway in 2015 and remains one of Fairbanks’ favorite destinations for crafted cocktails in a unique setting. The tasting room is located in what used to be a beloved art gallery, The Annex, and in keeping with the origins of the space, multiple artists are featured every month with both First Friday and Third Thursday rotations. The tasting room is also available for private events and cocktail classes.
